Long time lurker, first time commenter. You've got the year wrong in the title -- it should be 2016, not 2017.
Regarding sharing of fan art, personally I'm not sure why anyone in their right mind would want credit for such an poorly drawn image (it looks like a giant misshapen panda being sneezed out of a tiny panda, like Bilbo and Tom the troll from "An Unexpected Journey" only in reverse), but Anonymous does have a point. It's hardly "sharing links" to fan art if you don't actually provide a link back to the original, or at least your source. Just giving their nickname ("hump_day") is not sufficient, unless they are as well-known as Banksy (and this artist is no Banksy).
Hello 'Anon'! Thank you for pointing the subject line mistake out. I'll correct that now.
As Editor of Wossname, I don't think it's my place to judge the quality of fan art. If you are a long-time follower you'll have noticed that I do have my preferences in official Discworld artists - I despise Josh Kirby's covers even though Kirby was a fantastic artist in his non-Discworld work; I adore all of Paul Kidby's and Marc Simonetti's Discworld covers and illustrations; I have mixed feelings about Stephen Player's Discworld work, and so on - but when it comes to fan art I always assume it comes from the heart and judgemental put-downs seem a bit contrary to the spirit of a fanzine :-)
If I'd had a link I would have shared it! I send a lot of time searching the internet for items of interest for every issue, but I also depend on the Wossname Newshounds volunteers for content. In this case the image above was sent to me as a jpeg so I shared it here whilst referencing the credit that was already in the image.
I started out years ago as a Wossname Newshound myself, got pressured into temporary editorship when Editor-and-founder Joe Schaumburger first took ill, and eventually took up the Editor's baton when no-one else came forward to take over after Joe died. Putting out Wossname every month has cost me rather a lot in health and happiness, but I did it out of respect for Joe and out of love for the works of Sir Pterry, and now I continue to do it for the memory of The Author, to help his name to stay forever in the Overhead.
You say you're a 'long time lurker' but you took the trouble to comment here with a correction. That is just the sort of assistance we need! If perchance you'd like to become a Newshound, write to Wossname. The address is at the bottom of every issue...
